
President Jonathan on behalf of the Federal Government announced these gifts at the special reception held in the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja to honor the Super Eagles.
-N5 million naira (for each Super Eagles player).
-A National Award of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)
-Plot of land in Abuja. (for each Super Eagles player).
The following are the other gift packages for the others in the team:
COACH STEPHEN KESHI (The Big Boss) -Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) + N10 million + Plot of land in Abuja.
ASSISTANT COACH DANIEL AMOKACHI -Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) + N5 million naira + Plot of land of Abuja.
ASSISTANT COACH IKE SHORUMU -Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) + N5 million + plot of land in Abuja.
CAPTAIN JOSEPH YOBO -Officer of the Order of Niger + N5 million + plot of land in Abuja.
Technical Crew -N2 Million
In addition to all these, two super-rich Nigerian businessmen, Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia donated a sum of half a million dollars each (making a total of $1 million, N160 million) while billionaire entrepreneur donated a hefty N5 million to each of the players and technical crew.
The president also has this to say to encourage them: “No matter the number of people who doubt you, never doubt yourself. On the football field nobody cares who scores for Nigeria. You can be a Musa or a Moses…all we care is for
the green flag to fly.”
