Begging alms in the streets of Lagos is illegal,(the Lagos state wants to rid the state of beggars)and beggars are now being sent to prison for begging alms on the streets of Lagos.
About 30 beggars were today ,Monday 4th of February sentenced to Kirikiri Prison and Badagry prison after they were found guilty of alms begging which is an offence under the criminal law of the State, by the Special Offences Magistrate Court sitting in Alausa, Ikeja.
But is imprisoning them the solution?
